Men As Carer's

This is a regional program originally initiated and developed by the Central Grampians Carer Respite Centre in 2000.

The gatherings are held twice per year for men who are in the caring role and are facilitated by husband and wife team Glen Ochre & Ed McKinley, two experienced professionals, and are sometimes supported by Carer Support Workers from across the Grampians Region (including Central Highlands and Wimmera) and a worker from Grampians Community Health.

The men spend a full day together (9am to 5pm), followed by dinner at night (approx 7pm), and an overnight stay. The next day begins at 9am, ending at 1pm with a barbecue lunch together.

The gatherings provide an opportunity for men to share stories and experiences, offer each other support and wisdom, and have a fun relaxing time and companionship.

A small contribution from the carers may be required.

For more information please contact the Carer Respite Centre in your region.
