Family Violence Counsellor
Our Role Is:
To provide support, referrals and practical assistance to women, men, and children who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless due to family violence. We support multi-cultural and same sex communities.
What Family Violence Outreach Housing Support Workers do:
- Offer confidential support and assistance to access safe and secure accommodation
- Referrals and advocacy in the areas of
- Accommodation
- Financial
- Legal
- Medical
- Food, etc
- Counselling
Support, information and advocacy with eviction notices and housing issues.
Information advocacy and support with legal issues.
Advocacy, information and support with Centrelink entitlements.
Referrals and support to access low cost furniture and household items.
Emotional support and practical assistance.
Services we provide to the community:
Attend meetings or forums as a guest speaker, school education, provide community information on family violence, run workshops and seminars, write articles on family violence, indigenous family violence worker available on both sites and advocacy with referrals to interpreter services.
