What is Balgartnie ?
- Balgartnie is a rehabilitation program for people who have, or have had, a mental illness or psychiatric disability.
- Balgartnie provides a safe friendly environment where people are accepted as valued members of the community.
- Balgartnie concentrates on skills, abilities, and strengths to enhance self-esteem, independent functioning and quality of life.
- Balgartnie provides the opportunity for meaningful work and meaningful relationships with other people.

- People aged 18 - 65 years
The Balgartnie Centre can offer:
Day Activities and 'Drop-in
Ongoing support that assists the person with a psychiatric disability to experience an improved quality of life, relearn the skills of daily living, participate to the maximum extent in social, recreational, and educational activities.

Respite Opportunities
Balgartnie Respite Service assists in maintaining existing relationships between people with a mental illness and their families or Carers. Balgartnie recognises how hard it can be for both the Carer and the person with a mental illness to constantly be with each other and to be each others only support. -
Carer Support
Carers groups offer an opportunity to meet with others who are in a similar situation, or who have already faced a similar experience. They offer a chance to discuss issues with others as family and friends may have difficulty inderstanding. The Carer Support groups gives carers an outlet for their anger, frustration, and other emotions and provides information and knowledge on the illness, and offers assistance and advice. -
Outreach & Housing Support
Is an accommodation and support service for people whose lifestyle has been affected by a psychiatric disablility. The housing support program can also provide assistance for people in finding and securing affordable housing, and advice to individuals and families regarding future accommodation options. -
Twylighters' Older Persons Group
The Twylighters is a program provided by Balgartnie for older people who have a history of mental illness or an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). The Twylighters was developed for older aged people with a psychiatric history or those with an ABI that have difficulty accessing opportunities within the community.
